John's Prie-Dieu

 Did you know that every year in the Claddagh Church they change the display on the Right hand side? During the 7 weeks of Easter and Christmas they put up a display of Jesus preaching with lots of cute little animals, but outside of the seasons they reveal an amazing statue of St. Dominic surrounded by Saints accompanied by a hound of heaven with the torch... Easter and Christmas looks like this... The rest of the year:

I was walking around Galway and I popped into  St. Mary's Dominican Church in the Claddagh I knew it was there because of the Knights of St Columbanus Camino last year but, I hadn't looked inside. Here are some pics (you know how to zoom in, don't you?) Just wow, isn't that amazing.. (not to mention all the cute little creatures) Another shot with the cute little creatures in focus, the barrier blocks the photo a bit Then there is an old fashioned confession box, but the Dominicans call it the  Sacrament of Reconciliation  One side says 'Kneeler' I assume that means the confessor The other side says 'seat' And last, but not least, inside the door an ACTUAL Prie-Dieu (Prayer Desk) The Prie-Dieu area There was a lot more, but I didn't want to appear like a tourist or something, maybe another day...
