Remembrance of the Dead Ceremony in Knocknacarra Galway
The writing is in Irish/Gaeilge
This was in the St. John of the Apostle Church, Galway
It is when you remember all the people who died in the Parish during the last year
The Mass Leaflet:
Ar dheis De go Raibh n-anamacha uaisle
meaning
At the right hand of God were noble souls
(Don't worry no one really understands Irish)
They had a wooden stand on the alter and people would put their candles on it
The Priest would call out the names of the dead and a relative would be called up to light their
candle and place it on the stand.
but you get the idea.
Before the candles were lit:
They had the names of the deceased on the other side.
